    Eads & Hickory Withe

Hickory Withe is about 15 miles west of Somerville. A withe is defined as a flexible twig or branch and it is because of the large number of hickory trees that were in this locality that the place was named Hickory Withe. The nearby town of Arlington in Shelby County always has had a close association with Hickory Withe because of its location and the railroad depot in Arlington came to be known as Withe Depot due to its being the chief shipping point for the village of Hickory Withe in Fayette County.

Eads is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States named after Civil War engineer James Buchanan Eads. Some of Eads (and some surrounding areas) have been annexed by the city of Memphis. Some of its area is currently still unincorporated. Eads is located northeast of Germantown, west of Somerville, east of Memphis and east of Bartlett.

Oakland is a town in Fayette County. In 2010 the population of the town was 6,623, a gain of 417.8% since 2000, for the largest gain of any municipality in the tri-state area of Memphis. Reasons for this population boom, are the cities/counties low taxes, its low crime rate, and the 4 lane expansion of U.S. Highway 64 in the early 1990s. Oakland is one of the safest cities in the state to live in.

Oakland is located in west-central Fayette County. U.S. Route 64 is the main highway through town, leading east 9 miles to Somerville, the county seat, and west 32 miles to downtown Memphis. South 18 miles is the Tennessee-Mississippi state line. Tennessee Routes 194 and 196 are north-south state highways in Oakland.

                                    Meet Jenn

Jenn was born and raised in Johnson City, TN. She loves going back to see her family and getting to enjoy the mountains. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a Communication Studies degree and a minor in Tennessee football fan-dome (as painful as it is).

She enjoys doing anything outdoors, especially hiking, running and gardening, or as she calls it, “living off the land.” Exploring new places, cooking and eating good food with good people are her favorite things to do. Nashville has been her home for six years and her love for her community grows every day. She previously (and still occasionally) leads food tours through the Gulch and loves meeting new people and showing them around her town and, of course, eating delicious food! Her guilty pleasures are dancing like no one’s watching (which maybe they shouldn’t with her unrefined moves!) and watching The Bachelor (she understands and accepts the judgment that comes with that).

Jenn lives in East Nashville. She is a member of the Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS® and is very excited to be a part of the Southbound Group! As a Buyers Agent, she feels privileged to be helping Nashvillians find their home and grow their roots here.
